DIY Garbage Bag Cauldron

 I really wanted to have a large cauldron for my front verandah Halloween display, but didn't want to pay the price.

I had a large half barrel planter in the garage which was the perfect size, but not the perfect shape. 

So to make it the right shape, I grabbed some old boxes and cut out semi circles to create a rounder shape. 

Then I taped them on using thick electrical tape. 

Then I grabbed an extra large black garbage bag and covered my planter. 

I had an old black table top that fitted perfectly on top of my cauldron. 

Then I added a wad of white cushion stuffing and topped it with green faux spider web, complete with spider, to simulate a smoky green potion brewing inside. 

I love how it turned out. The only cost was the faux web for $2. You could pick up a half planter for around $30 if you didn't have a pot large enough on hand.
