New Desk Hubby Built

Woohoo, I'm the luckiest girl in the world!

Well, it certainly feels that way, especially after hubby came out of his handyman closet!

He has been holding out on me. He can build things.  Real things.  Made out of real wood. Namely furniture!

A dream come true, right all you DIY ladies out there?

Good looks and handy hands.  What more could a girl want.

I love to paint and decorate, but I'm no builder and I've always envied those lovely ladies with hubbies or dads that could build anything.

Well I'm excited to proclaim to the world that I am no longer green with envy.

It all started with this gorgeous picture I found on Pinterest.

Look at this absolutely perfect space. If you have been following my blog for a while, you will know that I have this corner in my lounge/dining room that I have always thought of as awkward and under used.

Here is the last picture I took of this space a few weeks ago.

I hardly ever use the desk and the display cabinet was just filling a bare corner.

I thought if I could place a large narrow table there, I could use it as a desk for myself, as well as a work space for the kids homework or iPads or sewing.  The list goes on.

So I sold my white country style desk and the corner cabinet, leaving hubby to hopefully build me a table. I knew he had some skills as he had build a "walk the plank" and "hook toss" for my son's birthday party a few weeks ago.

And so after Hubby did some Googling, drafting, measuring, purchasing the timber, and some sawing, drilling and screwing, this is my brand new desk ...

I love it!

I think he did an amazing job and I am so proud of him.

It is EXACTLY what I wanted!

I just need to sand and stain my new desk and it will be perfect.  Plus add a few pretties on the wall and top and it will be a very welcoming and usable space.

I'll keep you posted on my progress now all the hard work has been done. ;)

Thank you and love you Honey!
