Thrifty Shopping Weekend
Don't you just love to show off what you buy at retail shops when you
get home, especially when it is on sale. Well that is the high I get
when I come home from thrifty shopping. Not only do I nab lots of
bargains, they are also lots of different and unusual items you don't
find in your every day shops.
Love it!
So, what did I buy this weekend .....
These cute little dishes were 20 cents for the front one and $2 for the
one with the handle. I'm still debating whether to clean them up, but I
doubt it. :) The cute little lidded etched glass jar was also $2.
This key holder, shaped as a vintage style key in a gorgeous bronzy coloured metal was $2. Love the hanging chain!
Metal basket - 20 cents. Round gold coloured roses frame (likely to be
spray painted) - $2. Heavy light bronzy coloured pear - 50 cents.
I was admiring similar little silver birdies in Bed Bath n Table on
Friday for around $10. This little sweetie cost me 50 cents. :) My
second favourite buy of the day. :)
I know Christmas has only just past, but I'm in planning for the next one. :)
And who could resist these cute little Christmas houses, especially for $2.50 the lot!
And .....
They open up to reveal adorable little Christmas scenes. I love
them!!!! They are tiny enough to fit into a little village scene
together or individually into my $1 DIY Glass Apothecary Jar. Cool! I can't wait to surround them with fluffy white faux snow. :)
I grabbed the Santa statue for $1 and same with the wire bell shaped
basket. The decoration in the middle came with a bunch of other things.
If I had to break it down I would say 50 cents. The bow in the middle
definitely has to go, but I'm loving the rest.
Which brings me to this gorgeous lidded cane basket. It was filled with
goodies for $5. So breaking it down lets say the basket alone cost
$3.50. I saw similar ones new for around $60 in a boutique shop. Not
sure what I'll do with it yet.
So here is the basket again, showing all the goodies it contained,
including the leafy decoration in the middle, and some really gorgeous
flowery sprigs. I always think these things look tacky, but these ones
are actually quite nice. :) Break down for each bunch of sprigs would
be 50 cents each. I'll find somewhere for them no doubt.
Maybe in this reproduction metal milking can? :)
This was my next thrifty purchase at Freedom. Last one marked down from
$24.95 to $6.95! Bargain! AND my most prized item this weekend. I'm
still deciding where to put it. I want to be able to look at it lots!
:)
So, total spend for everything .... drum roll please ....
Just under $40.
Stay tuned for how I upcycle them. :)
